Is it too early to start talking about the Edinburgh Fringe Festival? We think not! As one of the UK’s most important and popular cultural annual events, some visitors to the Fringe start planning for their next visit before the first is even over. While we might not know the line-up for this year, that doesn’t mean we can’t plan ahead.
What can we expect at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival?
Since the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is all about the arts, you’ll always find a variety of unique collections, exhibitions and performances filling stages and spaces across the city. The Edinburgh Photographic Exhibition Centre is one of the top venues at the Festival, showcasing the work of top photographers around the world.
One thing the Fringe is definitely famous for is the music, and there’s plenty of that to go around. Folk music, acoustic, jazz…the list is endless and so are the talented musicians lining up to perform. You’ll definitely need to book tickets to watch your favourite acts, and they can book out fast, but on a stroll down the Royal Mile you’ll see plenty of street artists entertaining the milling crowds for free.
Word is that the Golden Oldies are making a comeback at this year’s Festival. Watch out for big names like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in a mini Christmas production. It might seem like a strange time of year to be watching something festive, but there’s never a bad time for headliners like that.
