Spring is in the air and we are looking forward to some longer, brighter and maybe even warmer days ahead! If you’re visiting us over the spring, take a look at what’s on in Edinburgh to keep you entertained. We’ve picked out a few highlights for you here.
March is great month for live music in Edinburgh. Elbow will be rocking the Usher Hall on 12th and 13th, followed by Scottish singer songwriter Emeli Sande on 16th. The legendary Elvis Costello will take to the Festival Theatre stage on 18th, then back at the Usher Hall solo acoustic singer Jack Savoretti will perform on 24th.
Theatre highlights for March include the smash hit soul sensation The Commitments, rock n roll musical Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story, and the colourful long-running hit Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

For the first two weeks in April, Edinburgh becomes a scientific playground as the Edinburgh International Science Festival comes to town. There are lots of family events planned, including a six floors of activities, shows and workshops at City Art Centre. For adults there are discussions, debates, workshops, screenings and special events exploring the scientific challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

In a move which celebrates the Capital’s 70 year status as The Festival City, the addition of Moments in Time will see visitors ‘time travel’ in tardis-like boxes through key moments in Edinburgh’s history.” – Councillor Richard Lewis, City of Edinburgh Council’s Festivals Champion.
Edinburgh events don’t come brighter than the annual Beltane Fire Festival on Saturday 30th April. This is a modern representation of an ancient ritual, celebrating the death of winter and birth of summer. Starting at sundown, a procession of performers and audience are lead by the May Queen and Green Man around Calton Hill. They star in a dramatic immersive show concluding with the lighting the Beltane bonfire at around 1.00 am. You can buy tickets for the event here.

Embrace Scotland’s oldest traditions at TradFest from 26th April to 7th May. This vibrant twelve-day festival will be a signature event for Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017, bringing Edinburgh to life with traditional music, storytelling, film and dance events.
