Mother’s Day in Edinburgh

This year Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 26th March. It’s our chance to say thanks to that very special person, Mum. It’s also the perfect excuse to enjoy some fabulous food and a great day out. There are so many choices that it’s hard to narrow things down but we’ve put together a snapshot of how to enjoy a fantastic Mother’s Day in Edinburgh.

Shopping on Mother’s Day in Edinburgh

There’s shopping and then there’s shopping. Treat yourselves by splashing out at one of Scotland’s top designer stores. Pick up a few treats in the womenswear department of Harvey Nichols, followed by a few delicacies in the foodmarket, and then head to the decadent Chocolate Lounge for a selection of waffles and pancakes served with chocolate shots and ice cream.

Visit Edinburgh’s Galleries and Museums

In the afternoon, take in some culture by enjoying one of the many galleries and museums on offer in Edinburgh. With so much choice, you’re sure to find something that interests you both. Highlights include the National Museum of Scotland, Scottish National Galleries, City Art Centre, Writer’s Museum, Surgeon’s Hall and Museum on The Mound.

Relax over Dinner at The Dunstane

In the evening, enjoy a well-earned rest, relaxing in our elegant dining room at Skerries Restaurant. Our Orkney Salmon is to die for, while the Borders’ Venison is a popular dish served with dauphinoise potatoes and wild mushrooms.

Head to the Edinburgh Playhouse

End your day on a musical high at the Edinburgh Playhouse, where Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games takes to the stage for Mother’s Day weekend.

Doesn’t that sound like a great day out? If you want to spend longer in Edinburgh, treat your Mum to an overnight stay at The Dunstane. Check out our special offers and gift cards.
