If the colder days and darker nights are hitting you hard already, don’t worry, Edinburgh’s spectacular Christmas celebrations are just around the corner. Festive lights and spirit, guaranteed to light up your winter!
Join us on George Street, Sunday 20th November, 1-5pm for Light Night 2016. Choirs from all over Scotland will perform classic Christmas carols throughout the day, leading up to a fantastic firework display at around 4.45pm. A huge Christmas Tree, a gift from Hordaland County Council in Norway, will be lit up on The Mound as part of the celebrations. Olympic gold medallist Callum Skinner will be initiating the Christmas Light Switch On and the event will be hosted by Radio Forth One DJ Arlene Stuart. Around 20,000 spectators are expected to attend this free event, which will kick off the glittering Christmas festivities in Edinburgh.
Street of Light
The spectacular Street Of Light Show returns to Edinburgh this Christmas in a new location on George Street. From 21st November all the way through to Christmas Eve, an intricate light display of 60,000 bulbs across the night sky will be synchronised to music from local choirs and bands. There will be two performances per night at 6pm and 8pm. The event is free but ticketed.
Warm Up in Luxury
We could go on and on about things to do in Edinburgh this winter, from ice skating in St Andrew’s Square to riding the Big Wheel in Princes Street Gardens, but we’ll let you explore it all for yourself. What the events all have in common is they’re outside! So it’s important you have somewhere warm to retreat to. Why not come back to a luxury bedroom at The Dunstane, run yourself a hot bath with Molton Brown toiletries, before heading down to Skerries Restaurant. Enjoy an aperitif by the fire before sampling the Orcadian delights created by Head Chef, Paul Hood, making sure to leave room for a scrumptious dessert. Take advantage of our Stay and Save special offer and enjoy luxury for less.
