Food And Beverage Assistant


The Dunstane Hotel is currently looking for a part time Food & Beverage assistant to join our small team. The role covers both evening restaurant service and breakfast service so candidate must be flexible with varied availability.

As a member of the food and beverage team your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Serving in the Skerries restaurant and Stane Bar, following our procedures to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Making sure standards of service to all our customers are carried out in an efficient, conscientious and friendly manner.
  • Helping our residents and local diners with any queries or questions they may have
  • Helping guests with our menu and products showing good product knowledge and a keen interest in your role

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a natural at pro-actively selling to our guests, and adopt a hands-on approach to food and beverage operations.
  • Be flexible in their role, as we are a small hotel and restaurant you need to be aware of all departments and help where needed
  • Have excellent communications skills and excellent English
  • Be reliable and well presented at all times

Hours are on a weekly rota basis and vary week to week.

Second Chef

The Dunstane and Skerries Restaurant are currently recruiting a second chef to join our small kitchen team. At Skerries we pride ourselves on producing our menu from the best fresh produce that Scotland has to offer focusing particularly on the Orkney and Shetland Islands.

We currently require a Second Chef to work alongside our head chef and run the kitchen on his days off, preparing and cooking good quality food, fresh to order.

The successful candidate will have

-a passion for food

– excellent knowledge of culinary skills

– past experience in a professional kitchen

– will work across all areas of the kitchen.

Your duties will include:

-preparing, presenting food & carrying out mise-en-place

​- ensuring that all equipment and working areas are kept clean in accordance with our Food Hygiene standards at all times.

-Working alone and unsupervised on occasion – must be able to self motivate and self organise

This role is ideal for a chef who is committed to developing and learning from our experienced Head Chef in a kitchen where the highest quality produce is used.

You must have previous experience in this role, be reliable, have impeccable Hygiene Standards, take pride in your work and have a good command of English.

Must be able to work well alone as well as alongside the small team and take responsibility for their shift; helping, guiding and motivating junior staff members.

Flexibility around hours and days of work is essential as work is scheduled on a shift-work basis including weekends, early and late shifts.
