HIT Scotland Euro Challenge 2016

Each year a group of explorers from various sectors of the hospitality industry take off on a whirlwind adventure somewhere in Europe on HIT Scotland‘s Euro Challenge. This year the destination was the beautiful city of Paris and Dunstane girls Shirley and Samantha were lucky enough to take part. Samantha tells us what they got up to …

With the itinerary packed full of once in a life time experiences we were so excited to get going! So much so, we just had to kick start the trip with a champagne breakfast at The Dunstane! Even waiting at Edinburgh Airport was fun as everyone was raring to go and in high spirits. With some new faces joining the group as well as seasoned Euro Challengers, we knew we were in for a fun weekend.

First stop was a dinner cruise on Les Bateaux Parisienes – such great views, welcome cocktail and scrumptious dinner – a great start to the weekend. After the scheduled activities, most of the Euro Challengers headed straight for the famous Moulin Rouge. What an experience! With a champagne package we saw the famous show, including a contestant from Britain’s Got Talent – Wendy the Dog! Strange place for that to pop up.

Saturday was free time in Paris and after a leisurely breakfast with Braehead Foods’ Craig, Kevin and Fergus at the famous Café Laduree and some amazing macaroons, it was time for a whistle stop sightseeing tour of Paris in a taxi (Parisian taxi driving, we have discovered, is not for the faint hearted!). We managed to cram in the Louvre, Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe, so not a bad hour in Paris.

Then it was off to Reims for an unforgettable dinner experience with Moet & Chandon. After an absolutely amazing tour of the Champagne House and Cellars we were shown to Caveau Napoleon where Jean-Rémy Moët, then mayor of Epernay, received the Croix de la Légion d’Honneur award from the hands of Napoleon, his friend and loyal client. The Food was truly spectacular and the champagne pairings even better.

Sunday was all about Disneyland Paris! A group roller coaster ride on the Tower of Terror followed by some free time in which we managed to squeeze in 3 more rides, a special effects experience, lunch and most importantly photos with some lovable Disney characters! Crazy end to a fabulous trip.

Thank you so much to HIT Scotland for organising another brilliant Euro Challenge and to all who went for such great company. See you all next year!
