This year Easter weekend is on Friday 14th to Monday 17th April. There is plenty to keep you busy over the bank holiday. Take a look at our highlights.
What better way to celebrate Easter than with an Easter Egg Hunt! Help the Botanics Bunny find the ingredients to make a scrumptious chocolate bar on the Royal Botanic Gardens’ Easter Trail. Children go free on the Royal Yacht Britannia if they bring their favourite cuddly toy and there is a fun Treasure Hunt for them to enjoy. Head to Craigmillar Castle and follow the clues in this year’s Eggsplorer Trail.
Edinburgh International Science Festival runs from 1st to 16th April. There is a fantastic programme of events on offer for all ages. The City Art Centre will become a six-floor scientific playground packed with family activities and a Day Pass will give you access to explore the whole fun-packed venue. There are lots more kids shows, workshops and events on all over the city as part of the festival. You can view the brochure online.
For the Grown-Ups
The Science Festival isn’t just for kids. There are many special events, discussions and workshops aimed at adults in the programme. These include Science Festival Lates, where the City Art Centre children’s playground is handed over to the grown-ups for one night only. There’s also Distilling Live! at Edinburgh Gin Distillery and Party On at the National Museum of Scotland for over 18s only.
If you want to catch a show this Easter, Sister Act is showing at Edinburgh Playhouse from 3rd to 15th April and The Stand Comedy Club is putting on a Bank Holiday Special comedy night on 16th April.
