Valentine’s Day is almost here and couples all over the world are beginning to plan romantic dates. We think you should be romantic all year round, then we heard about the new trend of “Alphabet Dating”. This is where you and your partner plan dates every week, fortnight, month or however frequently you’d like and each date starts with a new letter. Intrigued? Here’s part 1 of our guide to Alphabet Dating in Edinburgh!
A – Afternoon Tea
A fairly obvious choice for letter A, but Edinburgh definitely isn’t short of excellent choices for Afternoon Tea. From high end venues such as Colonnades at The Signet Library where prices start from £30 per person, to the family run and incredibly delicious Mimi’s Bakehouse for just £14.50 per person. Most Afternoon Teas have a Champagne option, to give your date that extra sparkle.
B – Bowling
The classic date from when we were all teenagers! Re-live the old days and get down to Tenpin Edinburgh at Fountain Park, grab other couples and make it a group date?
C – Cinema Date
Do the Cinema differently and go to the Dominion Cinema! Found on Newbattle Terrace in the Morningside area of the city, this is more than just a night out at the movies. Leather sofas, reclining chairs and a glass of wine in hand…almost like you’re at home except with the huge screens and great sound!
D – Dinner
A classic romantic evening always involves dinner! Luckily for you, Skerries at The Dunstane has a stunning menu and romantic atmosphere – we can even arrange for flowers to be waiting on your table. If you’re already at ‘D’ with your partner, why not take a look at our Valentine’s Day menu?
E – Elephant House
Treat your date to coffee and cake in the one of Edinburgh’s most famous cafes. The Elephant House is well-known as one of the places where J K Rowling sat to write her early novels, overlooking Edinburgh Castle. If your date is a Harry Potter fan, you’ll score extra points for this one!
F – Festival Theatre
All year round there are fantastic shows on at the Festival Theatre. Musicals, ballet, opera, comedy, drama, cabaret, variety shows and more take to the stage night after night. There’s something for all tastes, so take a look at the full what’s on list and book a date night at this beautiful theatre.
So that’s your first six dates sorted! We’ll have more ideas in part 2 of Alphabet Dating in Edinburgh.
